Periodontal Exam in Carrollton
Whenever it is suspected you have any sort of gum disease, Dr. Henry A. Campbell wants to make sure he is able to halt the disease right in its tracks before it gets any worse. With his comprehensive gum disease exam, he knows exactly where and what to look for in making sure you have the best oral health possible.
A few of the signs that you may have gum disease are swollen and/or tender gums, gums that bleed when you brush or floss, new spacing between teeth, receding gums, and loose teeth. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms, it is important that you contact Dr. Campbell as soon as possible.
When you come in for your dental checkup, Dr. Campbell will also perform your gum disease exam. He will use a periodontal probe to measure the space between your gum pocket and your tooth. If your gums are healthy, they should measure three millimeters or less, and they should not bleed. If the space between your gum pockets and your tooth measures deeper than three millimeters, the periodontal probe will be able to detect that.
Dr. Campbell will also check for copious amounts of tartar and plaque buildup below your gum line as part of your gum disease exam. Also, your bite, or occlusion, is a determining factor in your exam, due to the fact that you can see if your teeth are meeting together with too much force. If you feel as though you are living with gum disease, set up your appointment with Dr. Campbell as soon as possible so he can get you on the road to excellent oral health!
